10 Google Panda Check List, Panda SEO Checklist

From few months we are hearing about panda ---- Google panda update – Panda has made fabulous change in search engine results. The main reason beside Google panda update is to get rid of duplicate content, content farm and scrapper sites.
Still Google is working on latest techniques to get rid of content farm and scrapper sites. I have found few things which I want to share with you. Below are the Google Panda Check List:
1). Do you have a low search performance page?
Status - Yes / No
Note: You need to work on the quality of the page or you may delete the page. One non-quality page should not disturb other n number of quality pages.
2). Does your site loads slow?
Status - Yes / No
Note: The site load time should not be high. You need to optimize your images and code to reflect site load speed.
3). Do you have well researched keywords that related your web page content?
Status - Yes / No
Note: Without enough quality content, do not optimize your page titles for search keywords. The site page will be repeatedly listed for the user’s keywords only when the page is useful for the search user’s .Do not get into the personalized search users signed in site block list. At one point the search algorithm will be informed about the blocked sites.
4). Do you have high bounce rate?
Status - Yes / No
Note: The site need to have well structured related links within the content or around the content. The navigational structure of the site should be clear with quality content. If the content is clear and interesting then the bounce rate will gets decreased because users will be interested to visits other relevant links.
5). Do you see users spending minimum time in your page(s)?
Status - Yes / NO
Note: For a good site the users average time spent on the page should be high. This is based on the size of the quality content and other relevant content pages. You need to work on your content to hold users on the page(s) for long period.
6). Do you have related images for the content and do you own the copyright?
Status - Yes / No
Note: If you are having images for your content then it should be relevant to the content. The image should speak about the content. Use your own image content or make sure to get the copyright of the image.
7). Do you have a clean design?
Status - Yes / No
Note: Users experience is one of the main factors for panda update. Make sure the content is readable and website structure is user friendly with right combination of colours for a proper look and feel. Balance users experience with search engines experience. Also make sure that you include unique title, Meta tags, H tags, P tag, blog font, alt attribute and anchor texts.
8). Do you have a Meta description that briefs your page content?
Status - Yes / No
Note: Make sure that the Meta description is not stuffed with keywords and it includes a brief of the page content.
9). Have you done a grammatical check on your web page content?
Status - Yes / No
Note: Try to avoid grammatical mistakes in your content. Try to proofread before the content goes live. Clear content has high chance to list top.
10). Do you have more backlinks from same c class IP sites?
Status - Yes / No
Note: Natural links are always better that artificial backlinks. Natural links are risk free. Update you site often with quality content so that your readers will like to give link from their site(s). Artificial backlinks from directories submission site has high chance to be from the same c class ip unless it is well researched. Bunch of links from same c class IP are not valid and can also be considered as spam.

You use the following URL when logged into Google Webmaster Tools:

Then replace {YOUR_URL} with a URL you control within Webmaster Tools, and replace {URL_TO_BLOCK} with the URL of the site you want to block.

You could block a whole site, section or single page this way, based on how you entered the URL. To block a site, use the top level domain (E.g. http://www.someurl.com/), to block a section (subfolder) use a subfolder URL (E.g. http://www.someurl.com/somefolder/) and to block a page use the specific page URL (E.g. http://www.someurl.com/somefolder/somepage.html).

Google has once again simplified their Tool Bar PageRank (TBPR) about an hour ago, at 8 p.m. on December 30, 2009. I had observed the changes immediately when I was doing a searching and saw in the SERPs that we'd jumped from a PR5 to a robust PR6. Few changes are exactly took place before my eyes. One minute we were PR5, then next search PR6. But few browsers like Firefox Toolbar have yet to update though. It's still reading PR5, but I'm sure that will change. I have noticed lot of changes in my websites, all for the better, which is a nice.

This is the sixth and final update for this year end 2009, and the last PageRank update occurred on October 29, 2009. So this means that Google updating PR more frequently and every 3 months.

For reference, Google PageRank is a link analysis algorithm (named after Larry Page, co-founder of Google), which Google uses to allocate a statistical weighting to measure the authority, value or importance of a webpage. Nobody exterior of Google knows the actual PageRank of a document.

Keyword density means the number of times the target keywords appear in the web page or in content. Don’t repeat the keywords n numbers of times in article to rank well in search engines unnaturally. Repetition of keywords n number of times will treat as spam. But only we can use at important places where needed.

Keyword density is calculated as the total number of word in article divided by repetition of target keyword. For example, your web page has 100 words and you use the selected keyword for 5 times in different parts of the content. Then, your keyword density is calculated as 5%.
You have to maintain the keyword density is between 5% and 7%. This range is the best for your keyword optimization and you should limit within it.
You may optimize the every website and web pages. And you can optimize not only for single keyword but also a combination of two keywords or key phrases.

How to Calculate the Keyword Density:

First of all copy the total content from a web page and paste it into a MS Word documnet.
Second step Now press Ctrl+A to select all the text. Then, go to 'Tools' menu and select 'Word Count'. It will show you a statistics dialog box. Note down the total number of words.
Third step, go to the 'Edit' menu and click 'Replace'. Type in the keyword you want to find and replace with the same keyword. After that, click 'Replace All' button and the system will show the number of replaced words.
Now that you have already found the total number of words and the total number keywords, use the formula: Total number of keywords / Total number of words x 100 = Your keyword density. Remember, the keyword density is always expressed in percentage.

With this slash, you can choose to display only a selected amount of text from the beginning of each post as a tough one instead of showing the entire post or article on the front page of your blog.

When Visitor want to read the remaining post or article, they can click a “Read more...” link to read your entire post or article. (Note that you’ll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work.)

What is a Supplemental Result? How Do I Get My Pages Out of Supplemental Results?

Google finally found a solution in August of 2007 to resolve the supplemental results issue that I want to share in this article. Somewhat those rectify an issue with their algorithm that was apparently dumping millions of web pages into their supplemental results database. That does not mean that the supplemental results database is disappeared, nor does it mean that pages deemed to be less worthy will now start appearing in searches.

Regularly Google refreshing the supplemental results database, so once the issues with a web page were resolved, they were moving back to the main database much quicker.

The Supplemental Result is stored in separate database of Google main database. Google remove the WebPages from main searchable database and which means they do not show up in normal search results. In simple web pages are penalized by Google due to few reasons like copied content, duplicate title, description and keywords.

Lack of content on a page.

Content from another site in HTML frames or iframes.

How Do I Get My Pages Out of Supplemental Results?

The Google spiders periodically crawl pages stuck in Supplemental Results, but Google use different spider and it does not visit these pages very often.
Most of this Web site was trapped in Supplemental Results for a long period. We have uploaded the few pages and submitted to Google and after few days those are displayed as supplemental results in Google search results.

We noticed that all page are came under supplemental results. The flagging increased weekly and spread like a virus until it began to penalize all of the 100% original content pages found in the main portions of the site.

Then we modified the content and meta tags and re-submitted to Google. Within about a week, almost all of our original content pages were removed from Supplemental Result hell and Google traffic began to flow in once again.

Directory Submission Guidelines

Every web directory has their own set of guidelines that they follow when approving sites. Below is the list of guide lines used by many we directories to approval a website.

Title
Description
Keywords
Category
Url / Domain
Email
Site Content

Title of your Site:

Each directory has its own criteria where titles are concerned.

Some web directories do not allow the usage of keywords in the title and that case we have to use company name.

The title should be relevant to the purpose of the site and aptly describe (in a few words) what the site is about.
The title should be meaningful and not just contain a list of keywords.
The title should not be too promotional and read like an ad text, instead it should be as objective as possible.
The title shouldn’t be too lengthy (anywhere between 20 to 50 characters is usually fine).
THE TITLE SHOULD NOT BE IN ALL UPPER CASE.
Avoid the use of an exclamation mark ‘!’ in the title.
Avoid repetition of keywords.
Avoid words like ‘best’, ’leader’, ’cheapest’, ’greatest’ or any other exaggerated adjective.

Description:

Most, if not all, directories require a description for your site. The general guidelines for writing acceptable descriptions would be:

Do not mention any pricing details or any other promotional details that are subject to change with time. Again, a description should ideally just describe what the site offers (you may include features and benefits as long as it doesn’t make the description sound too promotional)
Most directories wouldn’t want you to mention a phone number and address details in the description – so it’s best to avoid putting in those details.
Avoid Capitalizing The First Letter Of Every Word In Your Description.
Try and avoid ending your description with ‘and others’ or ‘etc’ or even ‘…’

Keywords:

Most directories aren’t too strict about what you enter in the keywords field but just make sure you don’t repeat any keyword more than once and also make sure you have the keywords entered in the format required. Some directories may require you to enter each keyword separated by a comma, e.g. keyword1, keyword2 – while some may require the keywords to be separated by a space. So just make sure you follow their guidelines.

Category:

Quite a few directories are very particular about you choosing the right category. Many people make the mistake of selecting the category too fast without checking if there would be a more relevant category. Take the time to go through the directory’s choice of categories and choose the most appropriate category. For some directories, where you’re not able to find a suitable category, you may even suggest a relevant category (if the directory allows you to do so) and if the directory editor finds it suitable, your site would be added under the newly created category you suggested.

Url / Domain:

Not many directories are particular about the kind of url or domain you have but make sure you:

Submit the domain or url in the correct format. Most directories accept a url in the format of http://www.mydomain.com while some directories accept it without the http://
Do not submit parked domains and domains that have no content
Do not submit domains that redirect to another site.
Unless specified, only submit your home page url and not a url pointing to one of your inner pages, e.g. http://www.xyz.com and not http://www.xyz.com/this-page.html Also, when submitting your home page url, do not include the ‘index.***’ portion of your url – it should just be http://www.xyz.com
Some directories are particular about adding a forward slash ‘/’ at the end of the url. Remember to do so where mentioned.
Very few directories accept domains hosted on free hosting services or domains that are not registered – avoid submitting these kinds of domains.

Email:

A few directories are particular about not accepting sites where the email address included belongs to a free account like yahoo, hotmail or Gmail. This is applicable in very few cases. It is preferable to include the email address of your site domain, e.g. if you’re submitting http://www.xyz.com, try and use contact@xyz.com although don’t worry too much about this as there are very few directories that are particular about the email address entered.

Site Content:

Apart from following the guidelines given in each directory about the kind of sites that are acceptable to them, here are a few other general guidelines about a site’s content that most directories are particular about:

Never submit a site that is under construction or is about to launch. Make sure your site is fully operational before you have it submitted.
Do not submit sites that have no content.
Some directories don’t accept sites having just one page. It is preferable for your site to have a few pages.
Your site should have a substantial amount of content and not be full of affiliate links or contain just ads all over.
A few directories do not accept sites with ‘mirror content’, i.e. sites having the same content but different domains.

Many directories get plenty of submissions a day and it could take just one reason for an editor to reject your site. So be careful and try and stick as close to the guidelines as possible.

Link building is a technique to promote a web site by exchanging links to other related websites. Link building is not only useful for increases visibility of a website on internet but also helps to get or occupy the higher search engine rankings. Link building is one of the important strategies in search engine marketing.

Generally link exchange process is done with relevant websites with high page rank (PR). If the website contain high page rank means we have more advantageous if we exchange a link from that website.

We can exchange a link or promoting a website by listing in e-zines, newsletters, blogs, directories and search engines.

Types of Link Building Activities:

Inbound link building: In bound link is nothing but getting a link from other website or one way link. With the help of one way link we can rank well in major search engines. Below is a diagram to show the inbound link building.
Reciprocal link building: Reciprocal link building is nothing but two way link building. In this we have to place an other website link in our website. So we have to exchange a link with only high page rank (PR) website. Below is diagram to explain reciprocal link building process.
Outbound link building: In this exchange we give link to some other website. we may need to give some out-bound links to websites. Below is a diagram to explain outbound links.
Link Building - 3 Way : In 3 way link building our aim is to have a link from a website having good page rank on our website. In return we link their website from our other related website or directory.

In 3 way link building you can exchange a link from a website having good page rank and relevant content and place there link in other related website or directory. This process enables to have even more one way (inbound) links on our main website. This is one of the latest link building processes being followed.

Three Way Link Building Strategies:

Check the websites are relevant to your web site or not.
Posted the link to another website that’s related to your keyword and categories.
First add other website link in your website and than ask them to add your link.
Provide them the exact html code of your website related to particular category.
Use the target keywords title as anchor text in the code that is related to your web site and information.
Try to contact others on by calling them this much effective than email.
After getting conformation on link then check back the web site and make sure they located your link according to your requisite.
Mail them to change and if they are not responding to your mail then without wasting your time move on to the next.
After week check that the placed link is indexed in Yahoo or Google or not.
